ARI - Autorização de Residência para Investimento

The latest amendments to the legal regime of ARI (Autorização de Residência para Investimento), the Portuguese denomination for Golden Visas, was adopted by Decree-Law no. 14/2021, of 12 February, which came into force on 1 January 2022. This regime remains in force and in full application.
We believe that it would be very strange and unlikely that the government would cancel this programme one year after the reform. It is more likely it may adopt new reforms that favour again country regions deserving priority interest for investment, or investments of special cultural, scientific or environmental interest.
In summary: the Portuguese ARI regime, or “golden visa”, is in force and in full application.
