Felipe Fernandes Rocha

Associate

With a degree in Law (FADUSP) and Economic Sciences (FEAUSP) from the University of São Paulo (USP), Felipe F. Rocha has over 20 years of experience in international contracts, corporate transactions and greenfield and brownfield investments in Brazil and abroad. His main characteristic is the skill with which he acts in different areas, having led his teams in cases related to Real Estate, Intellectual Property, Oil & Gas, Public Procurement, Corporate Litigation, M&A Operations, Compliance and Regulatory Issues.

His career began in 1999 at ABN AMRO Bank S.A, a financial institution based in the Netherlands. In the Dutch group, he established his first contacts with the subjects of Banking Law, Capital Markets and Compliance, and developed a broad vision of people management and organizational processes.

Soon after graduating in Law (2003), Felipe accepted the challenge of working in the public sector as a legal consultant in legislative and executive matters at the São Paulo City Hall, focusing on public policies and local development. Later, he became chief of staff for the Butantã Sub-Mayor's Office. His work as president of the local public contracting committee was fundamental to make viable the administrative decentralization underway in the city of São Paulo in the early 2000s.

He attended the course of Economics at FEAUSP in 2006 and obtained his bachelor's degree in Economic Sciences with a monograph under the guidance of the former Minister of Planning of Brazil, Prof. João Sayad. In this work, he combined the knowledge acquired in European Community Law during his participation in the Núcleo de Estudos Internacionais (NEI) with his studies in the area of Monetary and International Economics ("Factor Mobility and International Risk Sharing: Robert A. Mundell's Theory on Optimal Currency Areas applied to the European Monetary Union").

He has been practicing law in Brazil since 2005 and is co-founder and managing partner of Costa da Silva & Fernandes Rocha Advogados  since 2007. In recent years, he has expanded his international practice to Portugal, associated with the immigration and new business areas of PMCM Advogados. His knowledge in Law and Economics, in addition to his performance in the public and private sectors provide him with the necessary experience to support and execute his clients' corporate, contractual and international initiatives.

In 2019, the recognition for his performance in corporate law came with the invitation to join the centennial Institute of Lawyers of São Paulo (IASP).(IASP).
